What to consider when buying a broadhead?

Cutting diameter:

For a great hunting experience, prefer broadheads that have smaller cutting diameters i.e. 1 to 1 ½ inches or lesser. This is because, with a small cutting diameter, the blade will penetrate deeper into the body of the target animal, increasing the damage.

The sharpness of the head:

Broadheads kill the animal by causing huge blood loss. To make that happen, your broadhead should have a sharp head that penetrates deep into the body while cutting the veins and vital organs to cause blood loss. If your broadhead has a blunt tip, sharp blades would not do much.

Accuracy:

If you do not want your mortality list to be blank, make sure that your broadhead has a high accuracy so you do not miss the target. Though accuracy has more to do with your accurate view of the target, high-quality broadheads aid in the process.

Legality:

Using a weapon or a tool that is considered illegal in your state can put you behind the bars. To avoid getting into trouble, use the type of broadhead that is declared legal in your state. Some broadheads have chemicals that are illegal in a few states.

Durability:

Most of the broadheads that you will find over the market are made of stainless steel. Though it is strong enough to kill a deer, it is not as durable as carbon-steel or titanium broadheads. Carbon-steel and Titanium heads cost a lot more than stainless steel heads, but their durability is worth it. If money is not a problem, go for the durable ones.

Concluding Thoughts:

If hunting is your passion, make sure you put in enough thoughts before buying your arrows. The type and quality of your arrows decide if you will become a champion or your mortality list will remain dusty. In this article, we have tried to provide everything you need to know before buying a broadhead. Happy Hunting!
